Matthew Lee Martin

Matthew Lee Martin of South Boston, VA passed away July 10, 2021.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on March 12, 1982 and was 39 years of age. He was the son of Greta Conner Holcomb and Bernard Lee Martin.

Matthew was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. He worked at Presto as an assistant shift

leader and showed dedication and a great work ethic by always going above and beyond what was

expected of him, by being extremely knowledgeable on the machine he worked and by always helping

anyone who needed it. He enjoyed raising hot peppers in the garden. Most everyone knew him as Matt,

but to me, his mom, and to his grandmother, Jewel, he was and always will be Matthew. His

grandmother would always make sure to correct those who called him Matt and we can just see her

now, in heaven, doing the same thing. Matthew; you will be missed by us all.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Mull officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother, 1714 Norwood Ave. South Boston, VA
