Mildred Solomon Daniel

Mrs. Mildred Solomon Daniel of Staunton, Va., formerly of South Boston, Va., died October 30, 2021.

She was born in Caswell County, North Carolina, on July 24, 1928, and was 93 years of age at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Maggie Snow and was married for almost 50 years to George Edward Solomon until his death in 1999. She married Dorsey L. Daniel in 2002 and was widowed in 2007.

She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Solomon Girotti, and husband Tom, of Staunton, Va., and Betty Solomon of Greer, S.C.; four grandchildren, Dr. Micah Girotti, and wife Dr. Kerri Girotti, of Towson, Md., Hannah Girotti of Staunton, Jonathan Girotti of Staunton, and Sarah Hartel, and husband Eric, of Jasper, Ga; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jack Girotti and Andrew, Matthew, Charlie, and Lydia Hartel. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eight brothers, Sonny, Willie, Melvin, Percy, Arnold, James, Franklin, and Johnny Snow; and three sisters, Betty Jones, Beatrice Hamlett, and Lessie Snow.

She was a charter member of Centerville Baptist Church in South Boston, Va., where she taught Sunday School for many years and is fondly remembered by many children who learned of Jesus in her classes. 

After she retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation, she enjoyed basket-making, vacationing, and visiting her grandchildren.

She is remembered for her sweet spirit and love for her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Todd McClure conducting the service. Burial to follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
