Nancy Jane Moore

Nancy Jane Moore of Chesapeake, VA passed away June 5, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born in Halifax County, VA on May 26, 1947 to the late Henry Oscar Moore and the late Virginia Fulp Moore.

Nancy was a member of Great Bridge Baptist Church in Chesapeake. Along with her family and friends Nancy leaves behind thousands of students that she taught in the Chesapeake Public School System for 35 years. She was voted Teacher of the Year and “Best of the Best English Teacher”. Nancy also had a love of photography and displayed many of her photographs.

Nancy is survived by her siblings, James A. “Jimmy” Moore (Bonnie) of Alton, Patricia Elizabeth M. Clayton (Ricky) of Washington, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Lynn Good (Steve) of South Boston, Emily Moore-Diamond (Scott) of Woodbridge, Christopher Moore (Kasey) of Charlotte, NC; great nephews, Michael Good (Holly), Brian Good (Sophia), and David Diamond, and lifelong friend and caregiver Elizabeth Lovelace of Chesapeake.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Emily Moore-Diamond officiating.
