Nancy Snead Lowery

Nancy Snead Lowery of South Boston passed peacefully on June 26, 2025 at the age of 80. Born on April 25, 1945 in the landscapes of Halifax County, Nancy’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, joy, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

As a devoted hairdresser, owner of her shop, and teacher in the art of hairdressing, Nancy touched the lives of countless individuals, providing not merely a service, but imparting confidence and beauty to those who sat in her chair. Nancy had a loving and quiet presence; she had the ability to make connections that exceeded mere friendship.

She leaves cherished memories to her loving daughter, Kimberly Lowery Slayton, and her husband George of Chester, VA. Nancy's siblings, Shirley Snead, Robert Snead, and Roger Snead (Diane), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Weldon Lowery; parents, Richard Walden Snead and Bessie Mae Moorefield Snead; her son, David Lowery; and her siblings, Edna S. Hatcher, Edith S. Francis, Johnny Snead, Cecil Snead, Richard Snead, James Snead, and Lonnie Snead.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Lewandowski officiating.
