Nannie Smith Throckmorton of Scottsburg passed away on December 5, 2025 at the blessed age of 93. She was born in Halifax County on April 29, 1932 to the late Samuel Hagood Smith and the late Virgie Smith. She was married to the late Marshall Monroe Throckmorton.
She was a faithful member of Scottsburg Baptist Church. Nannie enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Halifax County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2017. She loved cooking and baking and was well known for her homemade rolls and cinnamon buns. Nannie loved her family, and her passing will leave a void.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Peggy T. Seamster of Clover, Brenda T. Lee (Andy) of Roxboro; one son, M. Dean Throckmorton (Cheryl) of Mechanicsville, VA; three grandchildren, Brooke Throckmorton (Bryan Sanderson) of Mechanicsville, VA, Dennis Seamster of Clover, Russell Seamster (Julie) of Packer, Colorado; seven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Wayne Seamster; and eleven siblings.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
