Patsy Carr Reese

Mrs. Patsy Ruth Carr Reese of Scottsburg, VA passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at her home.  She was born February 17, 1937 in Henry County, VA and was 86 years old.  She was the daughter of the late William Robert Carr, Sr. and the late Ruth Owen Carr and was married to Julius Hudson Reese, Sr. who survives.

She was a devoted member of the Scottsburg Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director and Pianist.  She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Home Economics.  Patsy retired from the Halifax County Public School System and was also the face of Reese Farms, Inc. produce stand.  She was known for her excellent cooking and hospitality. Patsy was also previously recognized as the Virginia Farm Bureau Woman of the Year.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Scottsburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Kermit Evans and the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 11, 2023 from 6:00 until 7:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home.
