Rick Gerald Truesdale

Rick Gerald Truesdale, or Pop, as he was better known, was a true Renaissance Man. This was a guy who in the same story would expound upon the principles of Taoism and the teachings of Lao Tzu, just before reminiscing about seeing the Doors at the Whiskey A Go Go. Rick was a man whose stories would simultaneously amaze, embarrass, fascinate, and charm you, but always leave you wanting more. This is a man who hitch-hiked from California to the east coast seven times while reading Jack Kerouac and Thoreau. This was a man who, with his own hands, built a house for his family in the wilderness of Vermont. He once kept the same fire going for over a year.

Rick was a man who loved growing things. And he was great at it. His garden was the stuff of legends and people came from all over to reap the bounty. But growing things was secondary to giving things. He grew things solely for the purpose of giving and sharing them with others. He felt both pride and humility in his garden.

Rick Truesdale was the definition of an old soul and both his connection to the natural world and charitable heart will be missed by his family, his friends, and the South Boston community he called home. Rick is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer, Janeen, and Cristy. He also leaves behind his best friend and companion, Shelby Evans. Please honor the memory of Rick Truesdale by being kind to each other, paying it forward, and showing love and gratitude each
day.
