Robert Elmo Conner, Sr.

Robert Elmo Conner, Sr. of Scottsburg passed away May 5, 2026 at the age of 91. He was born in Halifax County on December 7, 1934 to the late Johnny Conner, Sr. and the late Hattie Womack Conner. He was married to the late Jean Hurt Conner.

He was of the Christian faith. Robert was a proud Veteran of the United States Army and a retired employee of Goodyear where he was a line worker. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed the game with friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Joan C. Burton (Robert) of Scottsburg and Tammie Williamson (Rodney) of Bullock, NC; one brother Glen Conner of Chatham; caregiver, Daisy Franklin; sitters, W.T. Powell, Raleigh D. Newcomb and Thomas Martin. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clinton McKinney officiating. Burial to follow in Highland Park in Danville.

The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
