Roger Dale Bennett, Sr.

Roger Dale Bennett, Sr. of Scottsburg, VA passed away July 13, 2021.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on August 9, 1945 and was 75 Years of age. He was the son of the late Ray Algie Bennett and Sallie Bett Allen Bennett. He was married to LaVerne Hall Bennett who survives.

Roger was owner and operator of R.D. Well Drilling for 36 years and retired in 2010. He was a member of South Boston Church of God, where he served as Head Usher, grasscutter and stew master. Roger loved fishing, hunting, growing tomatoes, playing cards and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also was a member of Wolftrap Hunting Club. Roger will be remembered as a person who could make you smile by his jokes and his stories.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at South Boston Church of God with the Pastor Dave Webb and Pastor Eric Medford officiating. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The service will be livestreamed via Powell Funeral Facebook page. 

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at South Boston Church of God and other times at his home.
