Ronnie Avron Hayes, Sr.

Ronnie Avron Hayes, Sr., of Halifax, Virginia passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 in Fruitvale, TX.

Ronnie “Grandpa/Pops” Hayes was born on July 20, 1952, to the late Raymond Hayes and the late Bertha M. Hayes Farmer in South Boston, VA.  He was raised in South Boston, and spent most of his adult life living in Halifax, VA.  Two years ago, Ronnie moved to Fruitvale, TX to be with his son and grandchildren. Ronnie was a member of Victory Cowboy Church of Halifax, VA.  He retired from Piedmont Maintenance Services.  Ronnie enjoyed wrestling, fishing, treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift stores, being outdoors, sneaking snacks, but most of all spending time with loved ones and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Michael Johns.

Ronnie leaves behind his son Ronnie Hayes, Jr., and wife Candace of Fruitvale, TX, his daughter, Michelle Johns Hazelwood; his sister Carolyn Conner and husband Vincent of South Boston, VA; his grandchildren, Kayla, Anthony, Madilyn, CaSandra, and Everly Hayes and Leah Hazelwood; nephew, Timothy Conner; special friend, Kim Burdette, as well as many other family members and friends that he cherished so much.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Chuck Barton and Rev. Russell Terry officiating.
