Russell Franklin "Bubba" Short, Jr.

Mr. Russell Franklin “Bubba” Short Jr. of Halifax, VA passed away on December 25, 2020 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on September 26, 1948 and was 72 years old. He was the son of the late Russell Franklin Short Sr. and Annie Virginia Davis Short and was married to Shirley Smith Short who survives. He was a member of Centerville Baptist Church and was retired from ABB. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. Survivors include: One daughter Tiffany Wilson and wife Kelly of Crystal Hill One son Russell Franklin Short III and wife Hollie of Evensville, TN Stepson Wayne Dickerson Reese, Jr. of Nathalie His mother Annie Virginia Davis Short of Nathalie Eight Siblings Teresa Short Martin (Lee) of Halifax Kelly Wayne Short of Nathalie Audrey Faye Short (Terri) of Nathalie Phyllis Short Lindley (Rusty) of Cluster Springs Carolyn Short Riddle and friend Ray Tuck of Virgilina Jerry Thomas Short and Pam Vernon of Nathalie Cathy Short Spangler (Frankie) of Cluster Springs Ann Short Spangler of Nathalie Four grandchildren Joseph Cassada, Kaylee Bomar, Caleb Bomar, and Cassidy Bomar Two great grandchildren Lillee Cassada and Zander Cassada Adopted brothers Randy Joyce, Paul Kipps, and CD Covington He was preceded in death by a nephew Brian Thomas Short and his niece Bridgett Renee Short A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Centerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd McClure officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and other times at his home. For memorials, please consider a charity of your choice.
