Shelia Day Powell

Sheila Day Powell of Glen Allen, VA passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 from cancer. She was surrounded by those she dearly loved in the last days of her life.

Born and raised in South Boston, Virginia, Sheila earned an associate’s degree from Phillips Business College in Lynchburg, VA and built a life in the environs of Richmond VA. Sheila served for many years as an accounting clerk for Hanover County Fire and EMS.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents Leonard Day and Margaret Kennedy Day, and her best friend and cousin, Lynda Day Conner. She is survived by her son Shawn and his spouse Tanya, her daughter Stephanie and her spouse Lisa, her grandchildren Kensley, Brianna, Gracie, David and Sonny, and her cousins Edie Staggs, Justin and Christopher Davidson, and their families.

A celebration of life took place at her home in Glen Allen, VA on August 21, and a graveside service for the family will occur in South Boston, Virginia on October 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sheila’s honor to the Hanover Crew Foundation.
