Thomas Owen Mudd, Sr.

Thomas Owen Mudd, Sr of Cascades, VA passed away July 26, 2026 at the age of 43 of natural causes. He was born in Hampton, VA on January 6, 1983 to Sarah Banton McAlister (Willis McAlister) and Thomas Willard Mudd, III. He was married to Jennifer Carter Mudd who survives.

Throughout his life, Thomas experienced many joys and seasons that helped shape the man he became. In recent years, he found his faith and became a member of Danville Compassion Church, where his relationship with God became an important part of his life.

In his younger days, Thomas enjoyed playing baseball and treasured the friendships and memories he made along the way. In later years he found joy in listening to rock music, spending time outdoors, and appreciating the beauty and peace found in nature. He had a way of finding enjoyment in the simple things in life and will be remembered for the moments he shared with those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by his children, Haley Mudd Baisch, Joshua Lloyd, Kaitlyn Mudd, Robert Mudd, Shiloh Guerrero, Tegan Hazelwood, Thomas Owen Mudd, Jr.; four grandchildren; aunts, Ilene Winder, Cynthia Price and Peggy Rusher; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Wayne Mudd and his stepfather, Kenneth Wade Sprouse.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Lynch officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
