Violet Tuck Perkins

Violet Elizabeth Tuck Perkins 95, formerly of Halifax passed away on January 28, 2024.  She was born in Pittsylvania County to the late Claude Edgar Tuck and the late Mollie Hancock Tuck.  She was married to the late Fred Melvin Perkins, Jr. 

 

Violet will be remembered by her vibrant and social-butterfly personality, her laughter, her love of dancing, and enormous love for all animals.  She made the best bundt-shaped pound cake drizzled with homemade icing. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and her green thumb could root any plant. Violet was very active in her community.  She was employed as an Avon Representative for over 30 years where she received the President’s award for over 18 years. She was a dedicated employee at Daystrom for many years. Violet was a faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and was a dedicated supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8243 of Halifax County, VA.  

 

Violet T. Perkins was a loving mother to her surviving children; Oliver Holmes “Skip” Perkins, Jr (Ruby) of Lexington, NC, Claudia Perkins of South Boston, VA and Kathryn Ferrell of Vernon Hill, VA.

She is also survived by her adoring sister, Mrs. Jean Matthews (Woody) of South Boston, VA and shared a special bond with a special niece, Mrs. Debbie Tuck Talbott of South Boston, VA.

 

Violet was a fabulous fun-loving “Nanny” to her Seven Grandchildren: Cassie Faircloth (Ricky)of Dunn, NC, John “Jack” Fulton IV (Stephanie)of Nathalie, VA, Liza Fulton of South Boston, VA, Summer Honeycutt (Larry)of Dunn, NC, Randi Warner (Brian) of Alton, VA, Jennie Kimmer (Dee) of Roseboro, NC, and Cody Ferrell of Halifax, VA.

She will be remembered for her vivacious personality by her Great Grandchildren: Lil Ricky, Amber, Hannah, Jacob, Austin, Crissy, Ethan, Aydan, Mollie, Lily, Jake, River and Airis. 

Violet was also cherished by Nieces: Jeanya Lynn Wylie and Jannay Comer and nephew Jason Matthews. 

Also survived are several great nieces and nephews.  

 

She was preceded in death by her younger sister Mrs. Geraldine T. Coates and her first husband Oliver Holmes Perkins, Sr.

Meeting her at the rainbow bridge were her beloved cats (Gus, Tasha, Cocoa, Brandy, Webster Bigfoot, King Arthur, Onyx and Sadat), as well as her beloved dogs (Rex and Sweetie).

 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Father Gavin McAdam officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the Powell Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Amelia Veteran’s Cemetery.
