Wanda Christerson Carden

Wanda “Bet” Christerson Carden ,93, died on March 13,2021 in Virginia Beach
VA following a brief illness. She was born on April 18, 1927 in Springfield KY to
Richard C. and Settie S. Christerson. She grew up with 4 siblings, all who
predeceased her: Ruby Cocanougher, Frankie Grundy, Kate Bellamy and Tom
Christerson.
Bet married Leo J. Carden, Jr in 1952 and relocated to South Boston VA where
they enjoyed a happy, laughter-filled marriage for over 60 years until his death in
2013. Both were members of Main Street United Methodist Church.
They met in Lake City SC while both were employed in the tobacco industry. She
enjoyed a successful career as a bookkeeper for over 30 years with James I.
Miller Company, J.P. Taylor Company and Southern Processors/Universal Leaf.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Peckens and husband David of Virginia
Beach as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Main Street United
Methodist Church in South Boston. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
