William Oliver Arendall

William “Oliver” Arendall of South Boston passed away on September 16, 2026 at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax County on January 23, 1947 to the late Elsie Reeves Arendall and the late Oliver Twister Arendall.

He was of the Baptist Faith. Oliver worked as a technician at JP Stevens and later at Presto and retired after many years of dedicated service. He believed in giving back to his community and did so by volunteering at Woodview, Meals on Wheels and preserving old veteran graves. Oliver loved to spend time dancing, playing baseball in the “Old Timers League”, getting involved in community events, and just being a friend to all he met. His passing will leave a void to all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelly A. Hill and fiancé Sam McCraw of South Boston; one granddaughter and the love of his life, Abby Kathryn Hill of South Boston; one nephew, Andrew Augeri of Manhattan, NY, and one niece, Amy Augeri and her children, Spencer, Trevor, Ethan and Addyson all of Richmond, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Rickie Arendall Augeri and her husband, Jospeh Augeri.

The family would like to thank Dr. Terrance Truitt, his staff, the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital Staff and to Lincare.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial to follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
