William Bouldin Chaney

Mr. William B. Chaney of Halifax, Virginia, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He was born on July 4, 1947, in Halifax County, Virginia, and was 78 years old. He was the son of the late Major Edmondson Chaney and the late Gertrude Ferrell Chaney. He was married for 54 years to his beloved wife, Jeanette Chaney, who survives.

Mr. Chaney was a devoted member of Winns Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman who found great peace and enjoyment spending time on the water. He had a true passion for farming and loved working the land. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandson.

Mr. Chaney is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Chaney of Halifax; one daughter, Catherine Wright (Derek), of Halifax; one special grandson, William Vincent “Cody” Wright of Halifax; and special friends, Windy and Vickie Shelton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Loftis and Rachel Saunders.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends at his home, 2027 Winns Creek Road, Halifax, Virginia.
