William "Dib" Diberal Mills, Jr.

William Diberal “Dib” Mills, Jr. of Halifax, VA passed away February 15, 2023.   He was born in Halifax County, VA on February 6, 1938 and was 85 years of age.  He was the son of the late William D. Mills, Sr. and the late Louise Kent Chappell Mills.  He was married to the late Mattie Sue Cole Mills.

William D. “Dib” Mills was a retired preacher from Ellis Creek Baptist Church.  He loved God, he loved Christ, and he loved serving in pastoral ministry.  In his many years he served as the pastor for Crossroads Baptist Church, Mill Creek Baptist Church, Hunting Creek Baptist Church, Falling River Baptist Church, Enon Baptist Church and Ellis Creek Baptist Church.   He shared Jesus in all that he did and walked with many in the journey of faith. He will be remembered and he will be missed, but we take solace in the words of John, “he will rest from his labors, for his deeds follow him.”

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lynn Marstin, Rev. Dustin Francis and Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
