William Elam Pritchard

William Elam Pritchard, “Will”, died on August 23, 2022 after a courageous fight with complications stemming from a fall from a roof on December 2, 2019 which paralyzed him from the shoulders down.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, William and Doris Adkisson of Mt. Laurel, VA and by his paternal grandparents, L. Douglas Pritchard, Sr. and Rosemary of Hopewell, VA. 

Will was raised in Chesterfield County by Douglas and Mary Pritchard, along with his brother Sam.  After graduating from Thomas Dale High School in 2003, he was employed as a surveyor at Balzer & Associates and Potts, Minter & Associates.  Later he became a commercial roofer, working with companies in Richmond and Clarksville, VA.  His love of hunting, fishing and his love for his wife Heather Clay Pritchard led him to relocate to Halifax County.  Nothing made Will happier than hunting in Halifax County or fishing on the piers of North Carolina beaches.  He was a true outdoorsman.  His name was Will perhaps because he had a strong spirit or will throughout his life.

Will was the father of five children: Kaelyn, Laci, Alyssa, Donald and Rosemary.  He also leaves cousins in Maryland and Virginia., his Uncle “Buck” and Aunt Jane Belt of Cumberland, MD, as well as two nephews, Joel & Jude Pritchard and one niece, Ruthie Pritchard.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Hunting Creek Baptist Church, 4055 Hunting Creek Rd., Nathalie, VA.  Pastor David Smith will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the graveside.
